Becoming a Certified Reverse Mortgage Advisor The Certified Reverse Mortgage Advisor (CRMA) designation is the undisputed industry credential for those professionals who wish to present seniors with the reverse mortgage opportunity as a potential solution for their personal financial situation. The CRMA designation signifies that these professionals have attained comprehensive knowledge pertaining to current information about the Reverse Mortgage opportunity, product particulars and suitability concerns. Curriculum Offered in a convenient online format, candidates must complete the following course curriculum: Chapter 2. Borrower Counseling Chapter 3. Property Analysis Chapter 4. HUD Servicing Examination Requirements Candidates are required to pass an online certification exam at the conclusion of their studies. The exam consists of 100-questions, and is an untimed computer-administered exam. A score of 70% or better is required to receive your CRMA™ Certificate; retakes are available if necessary. No additional exam fees apply. Additional Requirements Candidates must adhere to the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and pass a background check. Issues such as past/pending litigation or agency proceedings must be disclosed, and designees also must agree to abide by CRMA™ Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. Any required licensing will also be verified. Ongoing Requirements Certification is valid for one year. Designees are not required to complete Continuing Education credits to maintain their designation; however, there is an annual re-certification test that is administered covering any industry or legislative changes in the Reverse Mortgage market. Designees also must remit an annual re-certification fee of $150.
