Series 7 Exam Prep

How To Earn Your Series 7 License

If you are looking into becoming a Financial Advisor - aka a "Stockbroker" - then you probably are wondering things like, how to pass the Series 7 exam, what is the Series 7 pass rate, how hard is the Series 7 exam, what are the Series 7 requirements, and which Series 7 study courses are best to prepare you to obtain the Series 7 license on your first try?

About The Series 7 License

The Series 7 license is known formally as the General Securities Representative license and is a FINRA requirement for those individuals wishing to solicit/sell all securities products, including corporate securities, municipal securities, municipal fund securities, options, direct participation programs, investment company products, and variable contracts.

Please note that in order to earn your Series 7 license, you'll need to pass the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) examination as well as the Series 7 Top-off exam. You won't need a sponsorship to take the SIE exam but to take the Series 7 exam, you must be sponsored by a FINRA member firm or another self-regulatory organization (SRO).

Bank Training Center provides numerous Series 7 study courses - such as Series 7 seminars, Series 7 online courses, Series 7 self-study packages, and Series 7 webcasts - to help you pass your Series 7 exam and earn your Series 7 license.

About Your Series 7 Exam
  • To earn your Series 7 license, we recommend you first take the SIE course, then a Series 7 pre-licensing course. Your Series 7 pre-licensing course can be taken either in seminar, online, self-study, or interactive formats - just be sure your preferred format includes Series 7 practice questions!
  • Average preparation time for series 7 exam is 100-120 hours
  • Candidates are required to have a Series 7 sponsor to be eligible to sit for the exam.
  • Exams for your Series 7 license can be scheduled at any Prometric test center nationwide

What Is On The FINRA Series 7 Exam

The FINRA Series 7 Licensing exam tests your knowledge about buying and selling securities products such as stocks and bonds, options, mutual funds, ETFs, and more. The exam covers the following major topics:
  • Equity and Debt Securities
  • Options and Derivatives
  • Retirement Plans
  • Regulations
  • Taxation
Candidates have 225 minutes to answer all 125 multiple-choice exam questions, plus an additional 10 future-use questions that don't contribute to the score.

Series 7 Exam Requirements

In order to take the Series 7 Top-Off exam, you must be sponsored by a FINRA member firm, and FINRA has other Series 7 eligibility requirements. Your sponsor firm must file a Form U4 (Uniform Application for Securities Industry Registration) and pay the appropriate fee in order for you to be registered for the licensing exam.

Although you can take the Series 7 Top-Off exam as many times as you want, you must wait 30 days after each attempt before trying to pass the test again. Series 7 Exam-prep materials from ABTrainingCenter give you the best chance to pass your exam on the first try!
